2015-7-9 Frolic to Warren Island
Rick & Carol A. were kind enough to use their boat "FROLIC" to ferry 28 DOC members to Warren Island state park for a hike around the island. We departed from Castine town dock and returned about 3:30. A boat ride on Penobscot bay and a walk on Warren Island .. who could ask for more. Special thanks to Rick & Carol for their generous offer of the FROLIC. A outing to remember

2015-6-16 Hike & Moose Watching in Millinocket
Sue S. organized this weeks hike. Sue enlisted Don Nodine (Millinocket's resident moose spotter) as our spotter and hike leader for a 5+ mile hike in the area. 1 moose was spotted but not by everybody. It appears that the only moose in the area was a bit shy and was only seen by the few ladies that ventured into the bushes ... for some reason.
In all fairness to Don, his favorite moose spotting location was being logged during our visit. In any case it was good weather, not too many bugs and a very nice hike on the River Pond Nature Trail

2015-6-4 DOC Quarterly Meeting In Ellsworth
Quarterly Meeting In Ellsworth .... If you have never been to one you should check it out. As it 's a pot luck lunch there is lots of good food to share and a chance to sit down and visit with members you might not normally see or have a chance to visit with. Plus club business is taken care of ... stuff like the treasures report, the planning committee's results for the next quarter and so on. Often after the lunch/meeting we go for a short hike. The club needs input from the members to keep our outings fresh. Give it a try.

2015-5-21 Bald Rock and Cameron Mountain, Lincolnville.
Shirley E. was the hike leader this day and about 25 DOC'ers got a birds eye view of Penobscot bay. As you can see from the pictures below Bald Rock and Cameron Mountain offer great views of the bay once you get past acres and acres of blue berry fields.
