2015-4-9 Schoodic Point on Acadia National Park

I'm not sure just who stepped up to lead this leaderless hike, might have been Christina D. thanks to who ever did this. Anyway cold and cloudy weather did nothing to dampen the beauty of a walk on schoodic point road.  The DOC is so lucky to have access to this park.
After the hike Pat B (a Honorary member) invited us all to her house for tea and a warm place to eat our lunch.

2015-4-2 Fields Pond & Maple Syrup in Holden

Jane & Gordon R. took a group of 20+ members for a hike in the woods of Fields Pond. We were able to check out the collection of maple sap and then after the hike we went to their house for a tour of the sugar shack.  The day ended with ice cream and a maple syrup topping for everybody.

2015-2-26 Hirundo Wildlife Refuge trails in Alton,

Valerie L, and Christina D lead this weeks hike in Frigid temps.  Fortunately the wind was not blowing and once we got going everybody warmed up.  The trails were easy to follow and lots of deer signs, + we found a grouse nesting sight in the snow ... no grouse though

Snow Shoe & XC Skining on the Trails of Dorion Property, part of Orono Land Trust

The weather man promised a nice 19 deg day for the Bangor area ... all we got was 2 degs

But cold weather did not keep 20+ DOC members from taking advantage of a nice day on the groomed trails.  Meg & Ron L. did a fine job of giving us a choice of snowshoeing or XC skiing.  Actually it turned out to be a very nice day.  After the outing most of us went to the Family Dog restaurant for a hot lunch.
