Little Duck Pond March 7 2014

Jane & Gordon R guided this weeks hike to Little Duck Pond in Ellsworth.  Cold temps and a sunny sky were on the menu for the day.  Still a fair amount of snow on the trail so we had to walk in the snowmobile tracks.  Lunch was on the ice at Little Duck pond. Many exciting things to see on this hike including various varieties of scat and even a old beaver carcass. It's always nice to have our resident naturalist along on these hikes, thanks Jane.

DOC Presidents 2014-3-6

At the March quarterly meeting we were lucky to have 6 past presidents and the current club president in attendance.  Being club president is no easy job ... making sure somebody is on the job to run each weeks hike and that the club treasurer hasn't run off are just two of many task that are required to keep the club going for so many years. 32 years by my count.

Presidents L to R - Mary Beth Dorsey, Gloria Howard, Gordon Russell, Jim Zeman, Christina Diebold, Joan Thelwell, Dick Fowler.

The best thing about these pot luck quarterly meetings in Ellsworth is the food.  Lots of good food and just a little club business.

Great Head and Sand Beach in ANP Nov 21st

November in Maine . . . You could not have asked for better weather to hike in and a better location to hike at.

It's officially winter and the tourist are gone.  We had the whole park to ourselves.  To top it off after the hike, the hike leaders Trina and Judy had a tail gate party of goodies and hot cider. WOW.

All of this ( and a full year of similar outings) for only $5 per year.
Don't forget your membership dues are for the calendar year.
Jan 1st will cost you another $5 if you want to stay in the club.

Thanks to Trina and Judy for a most excellent outing

Hard to beat a deal like this.
