The 5th Annual Bangor Land Trust Pedal the Penobscot Road Ride will be Sunday, September 11th, 2011 on the Bangor Waterfront.

May 12th Walking the Streets of Castine

Jessie R. led 28 DOC members on a walk from the Backshore beach in Castine to a picnic on the remains of Fort Madison. Half of the walk was in Witherle Woods and the other half on the streets of Castine. After the hike we were invited for tea at homemade sweets at David & Ann's home.

April 21 Walking the Streets of Sorrento

Jim and Kathy Z lead a bunch of adventurous DOC members on a walk on the streets of Sorrento, we had lunch on the town beach park and then went for another walk on Treasure Island.

New Ride Share Idea This weeks Hike April 21: A walk in scenic Sorrento

With gas approaching $4 a gallon I thought I would try to start a ride share post on this blog.

It should be possible for each DOC member who needs a ride or wants to share gas expenses to click on "post a comment" or "comments" at the bottom of this posting.

I suggest just posting your first name and last initial (no Phone # or email) with your needs or offers. Hopefully another DOC member will contact you by phone and make the necessary arrangements.

Tip . . . use your most recent DOC member list to locate someone who lives close to you by zip code or telephone prefix

If anybody has a better idea to make this idea work better you suggestions are welcome and you can post your thoughts on this subject also.

April 14th Sears Island

Cora H & Bob & Sandy lead this hike. Early spring weather welcomed 27 hikers to a day in the woods & beach. Bonus: 3 Geocach locations were found by a few DOCers and a impromptu beach clean-up took place.

April 7th Champlain Mountain on MDI

Jane & Gordon lead this hike. 20+ DOC members enjoyed a hike to the top of Maine. Not a cloud in the sky that day.
