The 2015 4th quarterly at the Manor Inn was, as usual a great time for everybody to ditch the back pack and hiking boots for a fine meal and more talking
The DOC "camping trip" has evolved into a " Luxury camping trip " . Once again the club has chosen Twin Pines as the location for the annual camping trip. Heater, soft beds, and a restaurant for dinner make this location a favorite.
Lest we forget the beautiful scenery take a look at these pictures ... it's no wonder we keep returning to Twin Pines
Christina, ... deifying, all park rules leads which must be largest attendance hike in a long time, on a great hike in the newly completed Schoodic Park on MDI
Rick & Carol A. were kind enough to use their boat "FROLIC" to ferry 28 DOC members to Warren Island state park for a hike around the island. We departed from Castine town dock and returned about 3:30. A boat ride on Penobscot bay and a walk on Warren Island .. who could ask for more. Special thanks to Rick & Carol for their generous offer of the FROLIC. A outing to remember
Sue S. organized this weeks hike. Sue enlisted Don Nodine (Millinocket's resident moose spotter) as our spotter and hike leader for a 5+ mile hike in the area. 1 moose was spotted but not by everybody. It appears that the only moose in the area was a bit shy and was only seen by the few ladies that ventured into the bushes ... for some reason. In all fairness to Don, his favorite moose spotting location was being logged during our visit. In any case it was good weather, not too many bugs and a very nice hike on the River Pond Nature Trail
