New book out about living with Lyme disease by Andrea H. Caesar

In this book Andrea chronicles her life from age eleven through her diagnosis and subsequent treatment.  In a recent radio interview Andrea was asked what tick repellant she recommends to keep ticks at bay, she recommended catnip oil

Spring 2014 ...While it seemed like a long hard winter for us humans, under the snow, it was business as usual for ticks.  As people spend more time outdoors, they will be encountering adult ticks that overwintered and are now looking for hosts.

Kebo Mountain in Bar Harbor

Valerie and Christina lead this weeks hike on Kebo Mountain with the return by way of the Strath Eden Trail.  Another fine day in Maine.

Branch Lake Public Forest in Ellsworth

Ellie lead this hike and lots of DOC'ers braved the fog and bugs to enjoy the day.  Great views in Ellsworth ... hard to believe such beautiful country is so close.
